About The Author

Max Courson graduated from Baxley (Georgia) High School, received two journalism degrees from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. degree in American studies from the University of Hawaii.

He has worked as a print and broadcast journalist, in public information and also has taught mass communications at Tennessee Wesleyan College, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and at the University of South Florida.

He is the author of numerous newspaper and magazine articles as well as the books Dixie Mafia Gangster: The Audacious Criminal Career of Willie Foster Sellers, and A Prince of Detroit and King of the Georgia Coast: The Biography of Howard Earle Coffin.

Dr. Courson and wife Naomi reside in Valrico, Florida, along with a large, black, green-eyed cat named Emerald.
